The 2021 Ferro dei Collazzi, 100% Petit Verdot, is one of the best wines I have tasted from Collazzi. Heady and opulent to the core, the 2021 races across the palate with layers of plush, inky fruit. Mocha, chocolate, new leather, incense, liquorice and cloves build through to the explosive finish. 2025 – 2033

| Producer Info | Tenuta Collazzi occupies hills a few kilometres from Florence. The soils generally consist of rocks, sand and clay, and are rich in limestone. The vineyards are planted on a natural amphitheater that provides ideal sun exposure and optimal ripening conditions for grape cultivation. Collazzi’s portfolio includes three red Toscana IGT wines, as well as a single white wine made from Fiano that falls under the same classification. The flagship wine, known simply as Collazzi, is a classic Bordeaux blend made of hand-harvested Cabernet Sauvignon, Melot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Ferro is a single vineyard premium wine (think Masseto), made in tiny volumes from 100% Petit Verdot, with every bunch manually harvested. |
