Domaine Violot-Guillemard

Domaine Joannès Violot-Guillemard is one of Burgundy’s rising stars. The 6.5-hectare estate, is predominantly based in Pommard, with a few vines in Beaune, Meursault and Volnay. Joannès Faivre founded the estate in parallel with his distilling activity in the end of the 19th century.

Since 2019 the estate is run by Joannes (6th generation of the family), as his father Thierry retired. Joannes has established some changes in winemaking such as the use of whole cluster fermentation in some wines, ceramic fermentation vessels and wine orbs. The vines are grown organically since 1999, and the wines lean towards purity and freshness with lovely perfumes, without any Pommard rusticity.

"appreciable percentages of whole clusters have been deftly handled and married with intelligent cooperage choices to deliver wines with aromatic profiles more reminiscent of the Côte de Nuits' finest addresses…this domaine continues its ascent." - William Kelly, 2022
