Blanc de Noirs, Roebuck Estates

The 2018 Brut Blanc de Noirs is a pure Sussex-grown Pinot Noir from clay and loam in the Roman Villa vineyard. Surprisingly pale in color, some of the base wines were fermented in used oak. The nose is shy but reveals citrus, smoke and tart apple. The palate is a beautifully pure affair: juicy, smooth and still unfurled. All is slender but balanced with fine, tiny bubbles that add creaminess. Purity and poise are the watchwords and become apparent on the lasting finish. Delicate right now but sure to blossom. Disgorged: March 2023.

Nestled in the heart of the West Sussex countryside, Roebuck Estates was founded by two friends who shared a passion for great wine and had a clear vision: to craft exceptional vintage sparkling wines every single year that could be enjoyed all over the world. To achieve their goal, they knew they would have to grow the very best grapes from the finest vineyard sites in England. Six parcels of land span the beautiful counties of West & East Sussex and Kent, and are known for their rich, fertile soils and exceptional quality fruit. At our estates we grow the classic trio of Champenois grape varieties – Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. Each vineyard has been planted with carefully selected varieties and clones best suited to that land. “A producer that stands out from the crowd.” Jancis Robinson |
