Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG, Caparzo
Vintage 2020
750 ML
HK$588.00
Score: JS97
A deep and complex wine with classic aromas of smoky wood, charcoal, wild strawberries, raspberries, dried violets, tar and cinnamon. Full-bodied and creamy, with a typical Brunello palate showing brilliant acidity and weight. Fine, condensed, velvety tannins complete the picture. Drink or hold.

| Producer Info | Caparzo is a historic winery in Montalcino, southern Tuscany, founded in 1970 and known for its Brunello di Montalcino wines led by the Vigna La Casa cuvée. It is one of the earliest single-vineyard wines in the region, and also one of the first to use barriques. The 90 hectares of Tenuta Caparzo vineyards are spread over various locations, covering a wide range of terroirs. Caparzo acquired 28 hectares in the best Brunello sites and 18 hectares in the best Rosso sites. Among them were also the legendary Cru location La Casa and the location La Caduta. The latter vineyard is responsible for a Rosso with an excellent price-performance ratio. The generic Brunello is drawn from across the estate and aged for three years in large casks. The Riserva is drawn from batches selected personally by the winemaker and only made in the best years, and is aged in a similar way to the Vigna La Casa. In addition to the outstanding Sangiovese, varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Colorino and Chardonnay thrive on the sunny slopes of Caparzo. |
