Chablis, Domaine Sébastien Dampt
Vintage 2017
750 ML
HK$188.00
Score: BH90
There is abundance of classic Chablis character to the floral, citrus and petrol-suffused nose. There is fine mid-palate density on the medium weight flavors that are at once opulent and energetic, all wrapped in a clean, dry, long and citrusy finish. This is an excellent example of the genre and also worth checking out.

Producer Info | Sébastien Dampt is undeniably the rising star of Chablis. He is part of a dynasty that has been making wine in the region for over 150 years. After studying in Beaune, gaining experience around France, and working closely with his father Daniel and brother Vincent, Sébastien created Domaine Sébastien Dampt in 2007. His understanding of and passion for Chablis are clear and we look forward to watching his progress over the coming years.
The Domaine is situated in the village of Milly, where the soil is very chalky, a mix of clay, explains Sébastien Dampt. Split 50/50 between Village wine and Premier Cru, the wines are all vinified and raised in stainless steel tanks to ensure the pure fruited approach and retention of acidity in the classic style, much loved of this venerable region. These wines offer some of the greatest value in Chablis and have a reputation for being more mineral and concentrated. UK critic Tim Atkin has named Domaine Sébastien Dampt on his list of the “Top 25 best value producers”. “Sébastian Dampt is the son of Daniel and the wines are made in the same facilities and with the same philosophies. As the scores and comments suggest, these are well-made wines and at the prices the Dampt wines generally sell for, they are screaming bargains. Readers should know that Dampt is a member of the ‘no oak’ school.” – Burghound.com. |
