This is just sufficiently reduced to recommend decanting it for 20 to 30 minutes first if you’re going to try a bottle young. Otherwise there is fine volume to the caressing if powerful medium-bodied flavors that exude a prominent bead of minerality on the youthfully austere, firm and balanced finale. This is always the case with any competent example of LSJ, this will need up to a decade of keeping to arrive at its apogee.

*Organic* The history of the domain dates back to 1865 and since 1997 Chantal Tortochot has revived this important Burgundian estate in Gevrey Chambertin since taking over from her father, Gabriel. Her skillful winemaking has produced a range of lively, inexpensive, fruit-laden wines which are accessible, young and yet promise to develop well over several years. Since 2013 the vineyards are certified organic, their winemaking practice is to 100% de-stem, with 25% new oak for village, 50% for 1er Cru, and upto 100% for the Grand Cru. The jewels in the crown are the well situated Premier Cru vineyards Lavaux St Jacques, Champeaux, and the Grand Crus Mazis Chambertin, Charmes Chambertin and a morsel of the king of wines, Chambertin itself. |
